Description
The fifth annual Vita Bella Gala, celebrating Marshfield’s Hope Lodge and honoring the memory of longtime American Cancer Society (ACS) volunteer and community champion Dick Hofmeister of Stevens Point, will be Friday, May 16, in Marshfield.
Hofmeister’s family will accept the Spirit of Hope Award for his service to the ACS and Hope Lodge. This award is given annually to an individual who has empowered others and strengthened participation in the fight against cancer. Hofmeister’s efforts were significant in fundraising for the Marshfield Hope Lodge campaign. Marshfield’s Hope Lodge is the only facility of its kind in Wisconsin.
Since its doors opened in 2003, Marshfield Hope Lodge has saved cancer patients and their families almost $600,000 in lodging expenses and provided over 5,500 free nights in 2013. The facility offers a home away from home for people getting treatment for cancer at Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Also, volunteers help make this service possible, recording over 2,100 volunteer hours last year.
Vita Bella’s theme this year is “Bollywood” and includes dinner, program, live entertainment, silent and live auctions and reception. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. Dinner and program begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $75 each and hosted tables of eight are $550. Tickets are available at www.marshfieldhlgala.org. The event, hosted by ACS, is presented by Marshfield Clinic and sponsored by many community businesses and individuals.
