SUMMARY:Metal Garden Sculpture
DESCRIPTION:his two-session experience will expose you to the basics of welding and teach important shop safety principles that will enable to you design and create a piece of artwork for your landscape or garden. You will create an instructor-led project during the first session and get ideas for a personal project that you will make during the second session. The instructor will provide examples of decorative metal sculpture pieces created from everyday steel "junk\," like old wrenches\, ratchets\, shovels\, and sawblades.\n\n\n\nDuring the first session some time will be spent looking through College-provided scrap metal\, discussing design possibilities\, and thinking about additional scrap or items that you will need to bring to the second session of class.\n\n\n\nThe second session will provide opportunity for students to receive assistance in creating a unique piece of metal sculpture. Fee includes safety glasses and use of personal protective equipment.\n\nMinimum clothing requirements:\n\n Long pants (no shorts allowed)\, blue jeans or other cotton\, durable fabric slacks are preferred.\n Long sleeve cotton shirts are preferred. Please do not wear flannel\, polyester\, or nylon-type clothing.\n Closed-toed\, leather shoes (no pumps\, no rubber gardening boots).\n Long hair must be pulled back.\n Safety glasses\, welding hood\, welding gloves\, and welding jacket will be provided.\n\nInterested in creating artwork out of metal?
