Ag Tour 2017 - Tuesday, September 12th
Ag Tour 2017 is set for Tuesday, September 12th from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Planned by the Agri-Business Committee of the Portage County Business Council, you and your business associates are invited to attend.
The event begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and guest speaker at Wisconsin Public Service Corporation. The buffet style lunch will feature grilled hamburgers, brats, potato salad, calico beans, chips, dessert and more. The theme for this year's event is "Portage County's Dairy Best". Our guest speaker during lunch will be Beth Schaefer, Regional Program Director with the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board on the Wisconsin Dairy Council team to talk about the health and nutritional aspects of dairy products.
After lunch, we will head to Biery Cheese, Plover, WI where attendees will tour their slicing and packaging operations, enjoy a variety of cheese samples, learn about the company history and the economic impact they have on the Portage County area.
Biery Cheese is a family-owned, fourth generation company dedicated to crafting delicious cheese. They have been making cheese since 1929 and their Plover facility, located at 4930 Hayes Avenue in Plover opened in August, 2015.
Then it's off to the Feltz Family Farms and the new Feltz' s Dairy Store, located at 5796 Porter Drive, in Stevens Point.

Attendees will tour their robotic milking facility and see firsthand some of the latest innovative technology the dairy industry has to offer. Not only will you see robotic milking, but the latest in cow comfort, and how automation plays an important role on the farm. In addition, we will see other attractions around farm on a guided hayride-style tour. Stops will include feed storage, manure separation facility, conventional milking parlor, and calving area.
Following the tour, attendees will have the opportunity to browse and shop the new Feltz's Dairy Store which opened in June, 2017. The store offers many dairy products (including delicious fresh cheese curds), agriculture items, and local specialty goods. Attendees will also receive an ice cream cone (flavor of your choice) FREE of charge, compliments of Del Monte Foods!
The entire event includes tour stops, bus transportation, a picnic lunch & guest speaker, socializing and education.
