Description
Elected officials across the US and Wisconsin—including here in Central Wisconsin—are currently considering their options for how best to utilize their American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Portage County will receive its second round of funding in mid-2022, for a total of $13,746,631 in one-time funding.
The conversations about workforce recruitment, access to broadband, investments in transportation, education, and child care and development will help to identify areas where local jurisdictions can make decisions that help achieve the goal of putting our communities in a better post-COVID situation than they were in prior to the pandemic.
The decisions may be able to benefit from a collaborative effort where public and private sectors can partner in initiatives that are mutually beneficial. The workforce conversations spearheaded by CWI have clearly identified talent attraction issues of the utmost importance for our state and our community, and your input will help to further inform those discussions with local perspectives.
