Specifically how organizations can attract and retain women at all levels\, and what challenges women face that might be different from their male counterparts.\n\n \n\nAbout Our Speaker: As founder of Women in Trucking Association in March 2007\, Ellen Voie currently serves as the nonprofit organization's President/CEO. The Women in Trucking Association was formed to promote the employment of women in the trucking industry and remove obstacles that might keep them from succeeding. \n\n\n\nEllen earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Soceity of Association Executives. She was honored by the White House as a Transportation Innovators Champion of Change. She received the 2015 "Distinguished Alumna of the Year" award from her alma mater\, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Division of Communication. She also was named on of Supply & Demand Chain Executives magazine's "2016 Pros to Know\," which honors select supply chain executives who are leading initiatives to help their clients. In May 2016\, she was chosen as one of Fleet Owner's Dozen Outstanding Women in Trucking and in 2017 she was named to Insight Success Magazine's "The 30 Most Inspirational Leaders in Business".\n\n\n\nVoie's background in the trucking industry began in 1980\, when she earned a diploma in Traffic and Transportation Management while employed as Traffice Manager for a steel fabricating plant in central Wisconsin. She later worked as a dispatcher for a grain hauling carrier prior to becoming co-owner of a small fleet.\n\n\n\nAfter starting a family\, she used her background to become a freelance transportation consultant to carriers in Wisconsin\, licensing and permitting trucks for more than 16 years. During that time\, she earned her Master's Degree in Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point\, where she completed he Thesis research on the complex identities of women married to professional drivers.\n\n\n\nEllen has written extensively about trucking and family issues\, and her articles have appeared in print and internet magazines.
