Department Description

The UW-Stevens Point Budget Office is responsible for the development of the annual operating budget. The annual budget is developed in coordination with directors, deans, administrators, and others across campus. The Budget Office is the campus resource for budget and financial planning related information and questions and works closely with the UW System Administration to ensure budget plans conform to UW System and Board of Regent policies, as well as Wisconsin State Statutes.

Position Summary


This position primarily performs various financial functions needed for the operation of the Student Affairs division of the university including financial and budget planning and analysis. This position also provides financial assistance to the units within the division with regards to budget template development, budget reconciliation, annual budget preparations, and capital project budget planning and development. Major duties include financial reporting, planning and analysis; annual budget development and reconciliation; and liaison to the Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee. In addition, this position assists other divisions with annual budget development and planning. This position reports to the campus Budget Director in the division of Business Affairs.

Required Qualifications


- Demonstrated experience and competence in creating and managing financial procedures

-Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a variety of constituents

- Demonstrated ability to interpret, explain, and enforce regulations and policies

- Skill in the use of Microsoft Excel, automated financial systems, and database software

- Demonstrated attention to detail and concern for accuracy of information

- Demonstrated prioritization and time management skills

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

- A baccalaureate degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related field; or at least two years related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Professional experience within higher education budgeting or financial administration

- Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related field

Terms of Employment

This is a 12-month, Academic Staff annual appointment, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
