Reporting with dual lines to the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Director of the Office of Economic and Community Development (OECD) is responsible for leading a team and coordinating off-campus efforts that seek to establish and cultivate long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with industry and regional community partners.
The Director will be responsible for advancing the “Partnership for Thriving Communities” mission by creatively and intentionally fostering a broader campus culture of business and community engagement. Ultimately responsible for the management of external client expectations to ensure the highest level of client satisfaction is achieved.
OECD is a re-aligned campus entity, including our former Continuing Education, launching in 2018 in an effort to develop a structure and processes that best positions UW-Stevens Point to be a leader in university/industry relations. Working with the Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, Deans and Directors, this position will have a leadership role in developing strategies for the most effective development and “front-door” access to various campus resources. Occasional overnight travel throughout the state and beyond will be required.
|• Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated senior level experience leading economic development initiatives.
• Extensive knowledge of economic development, workforce development and public-private partnerships.
• Excellent public speaking and written communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree
• Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as needed. Occasional overnight travel throughout the state and beyond will be required.
• Capability to develop long-term strategies for corporate relationships that expand engagement opportunities for UW-Stevens Point.
• Ability to promote the UW-Stevens Point’s strategic priorities by developing excellent working relations with university leadership, faculty, staff, and affiliates.
• Knowledge of the operation of large complex organizations, educational institutions and governmental systems.
• Graduate degree
•Supervisory and budgetary experience
