Job Description

This position assists in all dietary functions as directed or instructed in accordance with Portage County Health Care Center dietary policies and procedures. Relieves on the Lead Cook position when needed; This position supervises the work of all employees assisting in food preparation and cleanliness of Dietary Department.

Additional hours of work occasionally available.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.

One or more years of experience in preparing and serving food in an institutional setting preferred.

Knowledge of institutional diets desirable.

Must be able to read, write and speak in an understandable manner.

Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members and visitors, etc.

Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, work areas for sanitation, order, safety and performance of assigned duties.

Must be knowledgeable of dietary practices, procedures, regulations, guidelines and functions in the long term care facility.

Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and willing to incorporate them into existing dietary practices.

Must possess the ability to supervise entire dietary staff throughout the shift.

Ability to successfully pass a caregiver background check.


35 hours/week.
Wage: $12.12/hour- Food Service Aide, $15.77/hour- Lead Cook
