Job Description
Do you have an IT background as a Network Analyst/Engineer?  The Portage County IT Department is looking to hire a Network Analyst to join our team!

The Essential Functions include:
  1. Performs installation, maintenance and repair of local and wide area networks to include installation, configuration, and testing of routers, switches, VOIP phones, wireless access points and other related equipment.
  2. Works with IT Network Supervisor to implement complex network configuration changes, upgrades, and expansions accurately without adversely affecting network availability.
  3. Maintains network procedures and schematic documentation.
  4. Monitors networks to ensure reliability and efficient communications.  Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshoots network operations.
  5. Assists IT Network Supervisor in the administration of County systems (including backup, security management, active directory user account management, e-mail systems, internet access, office systems and applications).
  6. Maintains, and documents server, desktop, application and virtualization systems to include VMware, Windows Server, Exchange Server, MS-SQL Server, and SharePoint.
  7. Maintains hardware and software documentation on appropriate projects, situations and or problems.
  8. Serves as a technical resource person to end users.  Provides training in operation of hardware, software and use of networks.
  9. Works with and acts as liaison between County departments and/or systems vendors.
  10. Independently recognizes and performs non-routine maintenance functions when needed to maximize user productivity and lessen system downtime.
The Minimum Requirements are as follows:
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2 years network administration and support experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle for work related travel.
  • Cisco switching and router support experience preferred.
  • VMWare support experience required.
  • Citrix support experience preferred
  • Sophos Firewall support experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office 365 experienced preferred.
  • Ability to support and experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012 Windows 7/8/10 required.
  • Ability to support and experience with Microsoft Active Directory, DNS/DHCP Server, SQL Server, Exchange 2010/2013, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office 2010/2013 required.
  • SAN/NAS familiarity required.
  • Ubuntu Linux support experience preferred.
  • Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must pass FBI criminal background check which will be conducted by the Portage County Sheriff’s department.  Must not have any felony convictions
