Insurance Rater

Depending on previous experience, the candidate selected for this position may join our team as a Rater II or a Rater Sr.

Our Raters utilize Microsoft Excel and an Automated Rating System daily to prepare policy information and documents for all of our Business Products policies.  In addition, you’ll:

  • Rate, code, calculate and produce documents.
  • Develop policy structure and pricing based on direction from Underwriting, and grids.
  • Utilize manuals, rating plans, schedules, systems and other information to determine premiums for a given risk.
  • Routinely remain aware of state insurance laws and regulations.
  • Perform administrative tasks including; daily work plans, auditing work, testing new rating procedures, techniques, products or systems.
  • Perform other job-related duties requiring the same general skill set.
WHAT IT TAKES
  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 0-2 years of related work experience, previous Rater experience preferred 
  • High level of mathematical, calculator and PC skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools and Excel experience preferred   
  • Able to work with multiple information resources and interpret rating procedures to accurately calculate premium
  • Ability to meet service standards while maintaining customer expectations
  • Insurance coursework beneficial
