Job Description
Provident Nutraceuticals a Division of Ortho Molecular Products is a leader and growing manufacturer of vitamin supplements.  We are looking to hire a Safety Manager to lead the organization in safety compliance for all regulatory agencies and maintain a safe and healthy workplace for employees through the implementation of safety initiatives within the organization.

Duties:
  • Study, plan and formulate new and revised safety programs, best practices and rules; prepare recommendations and implement to staff to influence behavior change and eliminate safety risks to employees
  • Promote safety awareness by providing effective safety training in both large and small group settings to ensure information comprehension, retention and daily application of safety measures; performs regular gap analysis on training needs based on department and company performance; provide safety support, educational materials, and information to employees.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on all accidents and incidents to determine the root cause and provide recommendations for corrective action and ensuring they are implemented and adhered to
  • Prepare and update written safety programs, hazard analysis and policies based on changes in the workplace or regulations using effective reasoning skills to balance business need, regulatory requirements while ensuring employee safety
  • Conduct trend analysis through audits, observations and reports to identify compliance issues; establish target areas and long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives
  • Assist with improving processes with a focus on safety while using innovative problem solving and critical thinking approaches to proactively define solutions and reduce safety issues.
  • Participate in new equipment validation to ensure engineering controls are in place to protect employees prior to equipment use; review new product SDS to identify hazardous materials and implement appropriate controls to protect employees.
  • Assist in the selection and assessment of safety devices or design, personal protective equipment or other safety equipment necessary to guard dangerous areas and protect employees from hazards.
  • Develop measurable company safety goals, objectives, and metrics that show improvement year-over-year and support a successful safety program.
  • Acts as the company representative in dealing with government agencies on safety and health matters that affect the company and follows recordkeeping requirements for regulatory agencies
  • Oversee all safety audit and inspection programs and maintains accurate records for proper and timely reporting while also maintaining up to date safety materials such as SDS library, training materials, and other regulatory items.
  • Oversees an effective safety committee through training of members and support of their assigned areas, facilitating effective safety committee meetings and the inclusion of members in investigations and problem-solving initiatives.
  • Develop continuously in collaborative leadership, attend training and further career developments associated with this position; works with trade and professional organizations to promote goals and objectives in the health and safety area
Requirements:
  • Completed a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Technical or bachelor’s degree in safety related field or 3-5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.  CSP preferred. Knowledge with CFR1910 and 1926. Experienced use of Microsoft Office, SharePoint.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memos, emails, SOP’s and other materials required.  Ability to write legible correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information verbally to other employees of the organization. Must effectively demonstrate the ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in written format. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, and multiply applying statistical mathematical concepts when needed.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
