Job Description
Dedicated individual tasked to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Assist Tool and Die makers with die repairs and assemblies. Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools. Maintain industrial machines; applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
  • Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, visualize product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
  • Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for material removal.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shapers, and grinders to machine parts.
  • Sharpening of dies and production tooling.
  • Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of machined parts and assemblies.
  • Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures, recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of parts.
  • Develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draw or sketch design of products.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Also must have ability to deal with problems in a timely and positively efficient manner.
  • Strong aptitude of mathematics, including: Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
  • Technical College Degree/Diploma
Wage: $17.00 - $21.00/hour based on experience
