WFC is seeking seasonal Truck Traffic Controllers to coordinate the weigh in/out of potato trucks during the potato Harvest Season using a color-coded system. This person will communicate routinely throughout the day with the Operations Manager, Field Leaders, Storage Manager and Logistics Manager to obtain information/instructions to provide to the drivers. You will work in a scale house and be responsible for keeping trucks moving efficiently and maintaining an organized work area along with tracking the truck weigh in/weigh out process with accuracy using a computer. Work schedule is based on weather conditions. Start times can be as early as 4a.m for some areas.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Advanced math skills.
- Proficiency utilizing MS Office.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand paper field maps
- Detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use critical thinking skills to give directions, troubleshoot and seek resources to lead the drivers per the plan provided.
Job Responsibilities
- Open the scale house for drivers to report in and use the time clock.
- Assist truck drivers with questions and directions.
- Assign a load # to each truck.
- Prepare and open all computer programs to run the scale house.
- Weigh inbound and outbound dump trucks, semi-trucks, and potato bulk trucks to gather the potato yield by truck.
- Track data and enter information in the computer for each truckload to include truck weight, truck #, driver’s name, field name, potato variety, destination bin, time, and any notes.
- Ensure the driver has a Driver Designation Sheet and Directions.
- Ensure copies of paper field maps are available and ready for drivers.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to sit/stand for an extended time.
- Must be able to work long hours during harvest. Ie: (10/12 hour shifts)
