The hostages were captured after the Shah of Iran entered the US for medical care\, and were freed on January 20\, 1981 Inauguration Day in the US.\n\n\n\nHe served a total of 13 years in the Marine Corps\, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1994. Kevin is the recipient of the US State Department's Award for Valor\, and received the Prisoner of War Medal\, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal\, the nation's highest peacetime military decoration from the Department of Defense.\n\n\n\nKevin challenges all Americans to remember daily the sacrifices that those who wear the uniform of their country make in service to our nation. \n\n\n\nAbout our Speaker:\n\nKevin Hermening is an active community volunteer\, small business owner\, and Marine veteran. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER  and is owner of Hermening Financial Group\, with six offices throughout Wisconsin. He received his undergraduate degree and MBA in Advanced Leadership and Decision Making from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. He served as an elected member of the Mosinee Board of Education and volunteers for numerous other community organizations. He and his wife have two adult daughters.
