Right out of high school Shelly went to technical college\, got her degree and took a job as a medical secretary. Through hard work and an eagerness to take every opportunity\, she advanced in the organization learning new skills and taking on leadership roles. Fueled by a passion to teach others\, Shelly took a position as a technical college instructor. It wasn't long before she was promoted to Dean and then to the Vice President of Learning. Then in 2017 she was welcomed as the President of Mid-State.\n\n\n\nAt this Women in Business\, Dr. Shelly Mondeik will share how to:\n\n- Be prepared for the next opportunity.\n\n- Live a life with no regrets.\n\n- Take time to stop\, listen\, and reflect.\n\n- Be the leader you want to be.\n\n\n\nAbout our Speaker: Dr. Shelly Mondeik joined Mid-State Technical College on June 1\, 2017 as the college's sixth president. Prior to joining Mid-State\, Dr. Mondeik served since 2010 as Vice President for Learning and Chief Academic Officer at Northcentral Technical College and celebrated 20 years within the Wisconsin Technical College System in 2022. She has held leadership positions at the national\, state and regional level and is highly regarded in higher education. She has earned a reputation as a leader who works tirelessly to ensure her college meets student\, business/industry and community needs. Dr. Mondeik has most recently led the Advanced Manufacturing\, Engineering Technology\, and Apprenticeship Center capital campaign\, raising over $22 million dollars to construct a state-of-the-art training center in the Stevens Point Industrial Park. Under her leadership\, on the heels of COVID\, and while many other educational institutions are seeing a decline in student headcount\, Mid-State Technical College experienced a 20+% increase in headcount\, one of the highest among technical colleges in the state.\n\n\n\nDr. Mondeik earned a doctorate in educational leadership at Madison's Edgewood College.
