To ensure our quality books make it into the hands of millions and millions of readers around the world, we are now hiring Shift Supervisor in our Press Department.  As a Shift Supervisor in our Press Department, you will have the responsibility of managing, coordinating, and overseeing the day-to-day production and quality standards on one of our night shift crews.  This position is scheduled for 12-hr shifts, from 7p-7a, on a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule.  Our Shift Supervisor in our Press Department generally leads a crew of 15-20 team members.

Your Responsibilities as a Press Department Shift Supervisor

  • Direct and coordinate operations and activities within the press department to achieve department and company goals
  • Plan and establish work schedules, crew assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals
  • Perform dolor okay approvals and assist in resolving color and production issues
  • Effectively communicate with all departments to ensure schedules remain on-time
  • Resolve discrepancies in job tickets and production issues to meet on-time delivery schedules
  • Assist in the development and implementation of process control improvements within the department for cost savings, reduced spoilage and maintaining on-time delivery through the facility
  • Provide back up and cover other shift supervisors in the press department as needed
  • Hire, develop, supervise, support, and evaluate press team associates in area of responsibility to include supporting positive employee relations; enforcing company policies, department procedures, and safety procedures; ensuring policies are administered consistently and equitably; recommending and executing personnel actions; addressing associate complaints and resolving issues; completing routine administrative tasks such as approving time and attendance, reviewing vacation schedules, etc.
  • Think and act like an employee owner by being safety-minded, quality-focused, customer-centered, a positive leader, and an awesome team member.

Qualifications to become a Press Department Shift Supervisor

  • Associate’s degree plus a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in related field required.  A combination of experience and education equivalent to five years of progressively more responsible work experience in related field will be considered.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of product.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Ability to lead others by communicating effectively; building collaborative relationships; coaching for performance; encouraging new ideas; fostering teamwork; promoting inclusion; and identifying, developing, and retaining talent.
  • Must possess excellent problem resolution, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-placement exam and pre-employment drug screen
  • Ability and desire to think and act like an employee owner (see Your Responsibilities above)
