Department Academic Affairs – Continuing Education
Department Description UW-Stevens Point Continuing Education (CE) extends university programs and resources beyond the campus by offering non-credit courses, workshops, and conferences to meet the learning needs of audiences of all ages. Each year, CE enrollments exceed 12,000 in approximately 600 offerings. The 20-member staff has offices on all three UWSP campuses.

Position Summary The Conferences Program Manager has administrative, fiscal, programmatic, personnel, and strategic responsibility within the program team and provides team leadership for outreach education. The Conferences Program Manager is responsible for developing and fostering working with internal and external partners to develop and administer conferences, workshops, and seminars that meet the licensing requirements and/ or training needs for professionals seeking continuing education.
The conference planning team annually serves over 7,000 registrants in a wide variety of professions. This position recruits, coordinates and facilitates planning committees of professionals from the intended conference audience to identify and develop content and related resources for the event. The position often interacts with key decision makers including agency directors, association executive directors and related high level decision makers.
This position requires an entrepreneurial, enterprising, and creative individual and reports to the Associate Director of Continuing Education and Outreach. This position is funded through program revenue.
Shift: 7:45am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Occasional evening, weekend, and varied hours may be needed dependent on departmental needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university
  • Three years of experience managing event logistics (such as facility contracts and onsite details, speaker contracts and support, purchasing)
  • Experience building collaborative and sustained partnerships
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience developing and managing budgets
  • Experience supervising staff
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience developing a marketing plan
  • Experience negotiating contracts
  • Experience locating and obtaining external funding resources
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Product Suite

Terms of Employment This is an Academic Staff annual appointment, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
