Park Maintenance Technician

Summary of the position:

Under general supervision, performs maintenance, construction, renovation and development of park facilities, trail maintenance and development, and daily park operations.  

Pay starts at $24.20 / hr

What are the primary job duties?

Maintenance and Repairs of Buildings/Park Equipment

  • Performs roofing, painting, insulating, plumbing, electrical repairs and other maintenance on park buildings, both wood and masonry.
  • Repairs picnic tables, playground equipment, grills, parking barriers, signs, pumps, and other equipment. 

Grounds Maintenance

  • Performs mowing/mulching.
  • Performs tree removal, tree trimming, brush chipping, and stump grinding.
  • Assists with tree planting, landscaping, and invasive species control.
  • Responsible for litter and garbage pickup.

Daily Park Operations

  • Cleans lodges, restrooms and campsites.
  • Provides information to park visitors.   

Construction and Development

  • Constructs park maintenance and operation equipment, i.e., picnic tables, signs, ski tow apparatus.
  • Constructs buildings and structures both wood and masonry.

Trail Development/Maintenance

  • Assists with development, maintenance, mowing, signing, blading, etc. of public use recreation trails.
  • Develops, maintains Operates ski tows, grooms hills and tow lanes. Operate downhill ski lodge and snow making equipment and grooms cross-country ski trails. 

 

What are the minimum qualifications?

  • Two years technical/trade school or three years work experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, construction or heavy equipment operation required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.  Must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within six months of hire date.
  • Prior experience in similar work environment preferred.

This position will be required to work some nights and weekends as part of a rotating schedule.
