About Ministry Dental Center
Ministry Dental Center is a health partnership between CAP Services, Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital and Delta Dental Plan of Wisconsin. Ministry Dental goal is to improve the oral health of low-income residents. The impact of the Center on the provision of affordable dental care in the area is very significant; 12,000 persons have received dental care since its inception.
Ministry Dental Center is designed to increase access to affordable dental care for households enrolled in Medicaid or BadgerCare. Its goal is to improve patient oral health by ensuring completion of any needed treatment and transition to preventive care status. Once patients are free of cavities, have received all needed treatments such as dentures, and root canals, extractions etc., they are moved to preventive care (cleanings). Letters and stories from the patients indicate the Center’s care has been life-changing, opening new opportunities for employment/promotions, social life, self-esteem and even just a smile. Ministry Dental Center is a unique facility in the county and the state of Wisconsin.
The program offers dental services five days a week with extended hours on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursday. Patients are scheduled on a first come/first served basis. Emergency appointments are available daily for those who call in with an emergency need. Services are provided on a fee-for-service basis using the Medicaid/BadgerCare fee schedule. Referrals are made by private dentists, Portage County Health and Human Services Department, Saint Michael’s Hospital, the Portage County Healthy Smiles program and local human service agencies/programs. There is a current wait list consisting of 633 Portage County adult residents.
Ignite Leadership Network of Portage County is a program of the PCBC Foundation and United Way of Portage County. Members are committed young professionals, focused on providing professional, social and philanthropic opportunities to ensure a vibrant future for Portage County Wisconsin.
