Description
Darkness to Light Stewards of Children facilitators are community trainers who help to spread the message of child sexual abuse prevention. The Stewards of Children program teaches those who will be working with children to learn how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The program is based on The 5 Steps to Protecting Children™ with a goal to prevent sexual abuse and react skillfully if it occurs.
An Authorized Facilitator is an individual who has been trained by Darkness to Light to deliver the Stewards of Children training to adults in an organization or community. Facilitators model the core principals of Stewards of Children in their communities by talking openly about child sexual abuse and engaging adults in the discussion. While teaching or training experience is not required to become a facilitator, you must feel comfortable speaking and presenting in front of large audiences. Effective communication skills, including presentation and listening ability, are important to being a successful facilitator. Attendance at the entire full-day Facilitator Training, as well as a background check, are mandatory.

To express interest in attending this workshop, learn more about the requirements of being a facilitator, and to determine whether you meet the prerequisites, please contact Heather Grys-Luecht, continuing education manager, by email at heather.grysluecht@ mstc.edu.
Course fee is $450 and includes facilitator training materials plus breakfast and snacks during the workshop. This training is eligible for seven (7) CEC credit hours approved by the National Association of Social Workers and the National Board for Certifed Counselors.
