Date: Thursday, July 22
Times available: 12-3 pm
Did you know that your single pint donation can save up to 3 lives? Save someone's summer by donating blood!
Event check-in will be in our Foundation Room with donations on The Community Blood Center bus. All donors will be entered to win a Christmas in July door prize!
Attention O positive or O negative blood types: The Blood Center is also seeking 3 donors for Double Red Cell donations. It is the same prep as for a whole blood donation (drink plenty of water, eat a good meal). They take twice as many red cells from the one pint of blood, and the donor receives saline in return to help replenish after the donation. It packs twice the punch for the recipient because it has twice the amount of red cells which carry oxygen inside the protein called hemoglobin. The donor would also take 16 weeks off before their next blood donation instead of 8 weeks, to allow the body recovery time since it is twice as many red cells.
