Description
Ag Tour 2022 is set for Tuesday, August 30th from 11:30AM to 4:00PM. Planned by the Agri-Business Committee of the Portage County Business Council, you and your business associates are invited to attend.
The event begins at 11:30 a.m. with registration and lunch at O'so Brewing Company, 1800 Plover Road (located in the Artist & Fare complex), Plover, WI. The buffet style lunch will feature a variety of delicious homemade pizzas, pasta salad, chips, dessert bars baked by Out of the Blue Bakery, and refreshments. During lunch, attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from Candise Miller, Executive Director from Farming for the Future Foundation. She will be presenting "Cultivating Connections: Building the Food + Farm Exploration Center".
After lunch, we will head to Warzynski Paradise Farms, established in 1904, located in Almond, WI. This family-owned business farms 7,500 acres with a focus on pickling cucumbers. Fun Fact: Warzynski Paradise Farms provides Chick-Fil-A with most of their pickles in the United States! Warzynski Paradise Farms also grows vegetables for canning companies including snap beans and sweet corn. Owners Dave and Mike Warzynski will take attendees through a tour of their pickling cucumber sorting, storage, and shipping facility. The second tour stop will be a commerical farm field where Warzynski Paradise Farms will be harvesting pickling cucumbers as well as loading them into trucks. Attendees will hear some facts on what it takes to grow pickling cucumbers.
Then we return to O'so Brewing Company for a tour of their brewing facility. O'so Brewing Company was founded in 2007 in Plover, WI by Marc and Katina Buttera. O'so has been declared the 2nd fastest growing brewery in the state and won its first Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal Award for its year-round beer, The Big O.
The entire event includes site tours, bus transportation, lunch & guest speaker presentation, socializing and education.
