BUSINESS X-CHANGE PRESENTATION – SEPTEMBER 9, 2026
Business X-Change meets regularly throughout the year. Our September X-Change will be held at the Portage County Business Council office. Business X-Change allows business owners and their employees the opportunity to discuss pertinent topics, learn from local industry leaders and, most importantly, learn from each other.
There is no cost to attend. Coffee and Danish will be provided.

About the Program: Join with Attorney Brian Formella as he guides us through a discussion of the most significant federal and state Supreme Court developments that affect Wisconsin employers. With the audience's help, Brian will provide practical insights to assist employers meet their legal obligation to employees.
Topics to Include:
- U.S. Supreme Court "transgender athletes" and "conversion therapy" cases.
- BREAKING: Wisconsin Court of Appeals decision Act 10 (weakening of collective bargaining rights of municipal and state employees).
- Commissions to sales employees who terminate.
- Neurodiversity conditions and the Americans with Disabilities Act/Wisconsin Fair Employment Act.
- FMLA interference claims: A case where the employer "won" and why.
- EEOC update.
About our Presenter:
Brian Formella graduated from Marquette University with B.A. degrees in English and Economics and from Marquette University Law School with honors. After graduating, he was a law clerk to Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Louis J. Ceci. His areas of practice include employment, labor law, and municipal law. Brian works with employers to establish sound employment practices. He also defends employers against discrimination accusations.
