Description
Join the Portage County Historical Society for the tour event of the fall as the Murder on Main Street Tour returns to Stevens Point on October 18th, exactly 150 years after one of the city’s most brutal murders. Attendees will uncover the story of this crime and others from the same era that gave Stevens Point the nickname “Shooting Point.”
The tour, given by PCHS Board President Erik McFarland, will take participants back in time to some of the city’s more gruesome and unsettling moments.
This free walking tour begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 18 in the Portage County Courthouse parking lot by the Civil War Memorial and concludes at the Matthias Mitchell Public Square. While the tour is free to the public, a $5 suggested donation per person is encouraged to support the public programming of the Portage County Historical Society.
Due to the graphic subject matter, this tour is not suitable for children. Please note that the tour is rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather.
