Description
Central Wisconsin Area Community Theater (cwACT) proudly presents The Shadow Box, by Michael Cristofer. Susan Edgren is directing. Due to the temporary closure of Sentry Theater for renovations, the performances will be held at Jensen Community Center, 487 North Main Street, Amherst, Wisconsin.
The Shadow Box is a play that involves three patients, residents in an experimental hospice setting, assigned to individual cabins where their family members or close friends may stay with them until they die. All three patients are terminally ill with an unknown amount of time to live. This surreal style drama focuses on not only the patients trying to handle their limited futures, but their families as well, with humor, distractions, or perhaps simply denial. Their last moments are played out in life-sized shadow boxes, just as the memories of them might be saved after they are gone.
The play made its Broadway debut on March 31, 1977. It won the 1977 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 1977 Tony Award for Best Play.
Performances are November 19-21 at 7:00 PM and November 22 at 2:00 PM, at Jensen Community Center, Amherst, Wisconsin.
Tickets to the show, as well as Season Tickets are available at cwact.org. Tickets will also be available at the door 30 minutes before the show.
THE SHADOW BOX is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com.
