Position Summary
The Manufacturing Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing general ledger reconciliations, supporting monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting, and providing detailed cost accounting analysis for manufacturing operations.This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy of inventory, manufacturing costs, standard costs, work-in-process, finished goods, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts. The position works closely with Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and Management to understand and analyze manufacturing costs and financial results.

Essential Responsibilities
Cost Accounting
- Maintain and analyze manufacturing costs, including direct materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead.
- Monitor and analyze product costs and standard costs.
- Analyze material usage, labor, overhead, and production variances.
- Establish and maintain accurate product costing.
- Review inventory valuation and investigate unusual changes in inventory costs.
- Analyze work-in-process and finished-goods inventory.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and unusual cost trends.
- Annual reconciliation of physical inventory to the accounting records.
General Ledger & Account Reconciliations
- Maintain accurate general ledger account balances.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items and discrepancies.
- Reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets, accrued expenses, prepaid expenses, payroll-related accounts, and other assigned accounts.
- Review general ledger activity for accuracy and proper account classification.
- Prepare and post recurring and adjusting journal entries.
- Maintain supporting documentation for journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Financial Statements & Reporting
- Responsible for the preparation and completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and supporting financial schedules.
- Prepare and review the Income Statement and analyze revenue, expenses, gross profit, and operating results.
- Complete all required month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting accurately and within established deadlines.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure all financial statement accounts are properly supported.
- Analyze financial results and variances compared to budget, prior periods, and expectations.
- Prepare financial reports and analysis.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for year-end accounting, audits, banking, insurance, and other authorized financial reporting requirements.
Fixed Assets
- Maintain the company’s fixed asset records.
- Record acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and other fixed asset activity.
- Process monthly depreciation.
- Reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger.
- Maintain supporting documentation for fixed asset additions and disposals.
- Ensure fixed assets are properly classified and capitalized according to company policy.
- Assist with capital expenditure tracking and reporting.
Additional Accounting Responsibilities
- Preparation of information requested by external accountants, auditors, banks, insurance companies, and other authorized parties.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and reporting processes.
- Maintain organized and accurate accounting records.
- Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statements.
- Experience performing account reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to analyze financial information and identify discrepancies.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred
- Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with inventory accounting and manufacturing variances.
- Experience with standard costing.
- Experience with fixed asset accounting.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or another ERP system.
- Experience with financial statement audits or reviews.

Salaried Position: $50,000 - $65,000 based on experience
