Work site: Remote  

Start Date: As soon as possible  

Starting Pay: $20.93-23.07 per hour, depending on experience 

Status: LTE, 0-10 hours per week based on appointment need

Duties:  

  • Provide medical interpretation services by appointment at the request of healthcare providers. Ensure accuracy of communication between patient and medical provider, including follow-up services with patients such as those regarding laboratory results, instructions for using medications, etc.  

  • Provide legal interpretation services by appointment at the request of providers including law enforcement agencies and judicial systems. Ensure accuracy of communication between parties in civil, criminal, juvenile, and family court settings. 

  • Abide by interpreter code of ethics. 

  • Maintain log of activities including time and mileage. Complete all necessary forms for billable service documentation. Submit timely reports as required by the program or department. 

  • Assist individuals and families in the translation of correspondence, applications for community services, and provide other interpretation services that address the needs of families with language barriers. 

  • Participate in biannual staff meetings of the Interpreter Services Program. 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Technical certificate in translation/interpretation plus three years of related experience, or high school diploma with continuing education and training in interpreting plus four years of related experience. 

  • Specialized training in medical terminology and/or legal interpreting required. Certification as a healthcare interpreter or court interpreter desired. 

  • Proficiency in consecutive interpreting and sight translation required. Ability to interpret simultaneously a plus. 

  • Advanced reading/writing skills in English and Spanish. 

  • Moderate proficiency in Office365 Suite within six months of hire.
