Position Overview

The intern will help record, edit, organize, and produce professional media for Bright Line Investigations. Projects may include investigator training videos, company and founder profiles, recruiting materials, podcast pilot episodes, educational videos, conference and speaking content, social media clips, equipment demonstrations, and documentary-style public-accountability projects.

Responsibilities

The intern may record interviews with investigators, staff members, interns, and professional partners; assist with cameras, lighting, microphones, audio recording, and production planning; capture office, training, equipment, and behind-the-scenes footage; edit content for LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and company use; create short clips from longer interviews and presentations; help develop podcast material; and organize video, audio, photographs, transcripts, graphics, and release-ready files.

Qualifications

Applicants should have an interest or background in communication, journalism, film, video production, digital media, marketing, photography, criminal justice, political science, public policy, or a related field. Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, Descript, Audition, or similar software is preferred.

Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, creativity, reliability, sound judgment, organization, and the ability to meet deadlines. Experience with podcast production, photography, drones, motion graphics, interviewing, documentary storytelling, or social media strategy is helpful but not required.

Compensation and Schedule

Compensation is $15.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience, portfolio quality, reliability, availability, and technical ability.

The anticipated schedule is approximately 8 to 20 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible. Some work must be completed on-site at the Bright Line Investigations office in Stevens Point. Remote editing may become available after the selected candidate establishes trust and demonstrates an understanding of company workflows and confidentiality requirements.

Local Preference

Preference will be given to candidates located in or near Stevens Point, Plover, Amherst, Wisconsin Rapids, Wausau, Marshfield, Portage County, or the surrounding Central Wisconsin area who can work on-site when needed.

Professional Development

The selected intern will receive practical experience producing media for a professional investigative agency. The position offers portfolio-building opportunities involving interviews, training videos, podcasts, public education, recruiting, professional storytelling, and documentary-style content.

The intern will also gain exposure to legal, investigative, public-records, civil-rights, and government-accountability subject matter. Strong performance may lead to continued paid work, expanded responsibilities, or a longer-term position with Bright Line Investigations.

Confidentiality

Bright Line Investigations handles confidential legal, investigative, client, and business information. The selected candidate must sign a confidentiality agreement and comply with all company policies governing client information, case materials, recordings, documents, investigative methods, and unreleased media.
