Description
Geocaching is a modern-day worldwide scavenger hunt. There are millions of geocaches hidden, including some in places you have probably visited frequently but had no idea they were there. In this class, you will learn the basic principles of satellite navigation and use a handheld GPS/GNSS receiver to navigate to locations marked by other users. These secret stashes are sometimes single points and sometimes multiple locations found by solving puzzles. The class includes using internet references and a field trip to find local geocaches. You may bring your own receiver or use one provided for use in the class. The second night of class will be a field experience around the local area to find geocaches.
