Join UW-Stevens Point for Technology Brought Us Here, Now What? in the Dreyfus University Center Laird Room. The program is the first event in the year-long Truth, Trust and Technology: Information in the Age of AI series. The College of Letters and Science public engagement series launches on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.
Artificial Intelligence has made it challenging to believe what you see. In daily life, we navigate slop videos, deepfakes and AI-generated evidence. What role do humans play in our current environment? How do we protect ourselves?
Guests will include Chad Johnson, associate professor in Computing and New Media Technologies.
This event is free, but participants are encouraged to register by October 22, 2026 at midnight to guarantee seating!
The College of Letters and Science Community Engagement Series for 2026-27 will focus on the prevalence of misinformation in the age of artificial intelligence. Speakers will discuss how we got to the present-day environment and best practices to evaluate the truth of a source material. From lectures to panels, the year-long series will invite participants to improve their critical thinking and seek solutions to combat misinformation through a workshop-style event.
The public events will be free, but participants are encouraged to register to guarantee seating!
