WAUSAU, Wis. – Aspirus Health would like women to be aware of new recommendations for when to schedule a mammogram after receiving COVID vaccines.
Aspirus is adopting the recommendations recently issued by The Society of Breast Imaging to avoid scheduling a mammogram for 4-6 weeks after receiving a COVID vaccine. Some patients may experience enlarged lymph nodes after receiving the vaccine, which could hinder an accurate mammogram reading.

Wausau, Wis.– Individuals and families who missed the timeframe to enroll in health insurance coverage have a new opportunity to do so. On January 28, 2021 President Joe Biden signed an executive action that re-opened enrollment in the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace.

On Thursday, January 28th, 10 pallets or 120 boxes of disposable, surgical masks were delivered by a semi-truck to the Noel Group Hangar in Stevens Faculty members at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau will bring their knowledge and expertise to the community that supports the campus as part of a new lecture series to kick off on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The Kiwanis Club of Stevens Point in conjunction with the Plover Kiwanis raised funds to purchase an Ipad for a local family whose daughter was diagnosed with autism. With help from their therapist they found out that the Wisconsin-Upper “I’ve seen more deaths in the last 10 months than any 21-year-old should.”
This statement was made by Veronica Pieters, one of the many University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point health science students who are using their education to make a difference on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. They are working in hospitals, laboratories and clinics in their home communities to help where needed. Many In celebration of their 20th Anniversary in 2017, the Women’s Fund of Portage County, a fund at the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin in Stevens Point, announced an ambitious goal to raise their endowment to $1 million dollars by 2020.
“Even through a pandemic, these strong, determined women pushed hard to get our endowment to $1 million by the end of 2020,” said Beth McBride, Women’s Fund Board President, “It wasn’t easy, but we believed in our mission and persevered.”
