[STEVENS POINT, WI] – The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra is pleased to celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend with their concert BEETHOVEN’s FIFTH on February 15th at Sentry Theater.
The CWSO will perform their first concert of 2025 at Sentry Theater on Saturday, February 15th, at 7:30 pm. This will be the third concert of the 76th Season and will feature “Overture No. 1” by Louise Farrenc, “Variations on a Theme by Haydn” by Johannes Brahms, “Piano Concert in A Minor, Movement I” by Edvard Grieg, and the iconic “Symphony No. 5” by Ludwig van Beethoven. This concert will feature the Jenkins Family Young Artist 2024 Concerto Competition Winner Megan Yang on piano to perform Movement I of Grieg’s “Piano Concerto in A Minor”. Megan Yang has studied piano for over twelve years with Tom Yang, her dad, as her primary teacher. Her other piano teachers have included Ann Marie Novak, Carolyn Frazier and Molly Roseman at the American Suzuki Institute. Megan has earned distinction at the WSMA District Auditions and has been a room winner and an honorable mention at WMTA Badger Piano Auditions. In 2024, she was selected as the winner for Badger Northeast regionals and was also a finalist for the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition. Megan has also played violin for over ten years and has studied with David Becker, Oscar Soler, Michelle Wenzel and currently with Aber Suzuki Center teacher Pat D’Ercole. As a violinist, she has been involved in the Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra Program since 2019. A talented athlete, Megan is also a member of the Iola Winter Sports Club ski team and her high school track team.

The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra consists of sixty-five professional musicians coming from the central Wisconsin region. The players hold an array of occupations; many are music educators, university professors, students, and full-time professional musicians. The regional orchestra is celebrating 75 years at the heart of the vibrant arts and cultural life of Central Wisconsin. The organizational mission is “To enrich, engage and educate through the power and performance of live music.”
