Interior architecture on display at UW-Stevens Point

Works by interior architecture students at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point are now being featured at the UW-Stevens Point Edna Carlsten Art Gallery. An opening reception will be held Friday, Dec. 13 from 2-5 p.m.

“ROOTed”, an exhibition presented by interior architecture students graduating this fall, will be free and open to the public Dec. 13-Jan. 9 in the Noel Fine Arts Center Edna Carlsten Gallery, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point. Gallery hours run from noon-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.

The exhibition’s name comes from four philosophies identified by the group of seniors as being fundamental to their experience attending UWSP:

  • Resilience - Working long hours, meeting tight deadlines, and solving problems, students are strong individuals that can withstand any obstacles presented to them.
  • Origin - Coming from different backgrounds, students all provide a unique design perspective.
  • Opportunity - The Interior Architecture program at UWSP provides designers with both experience and organizations to immerse themselves in the design industry.
  • Transformation - Beginning their journey with minimal design experience, students have grown into a group of bright and creative professionals, ready to branch off into the world of interior architecture.

The Interior Architecture program at UW-Stevens Point provides a well-rounded education, focusing on a wide variety of project types including residential, hospitality, corporate and senior living. Throughout the program, students develop both technically and professionally. Design techniques and methodologies such as schematic planning, drafting, 3D modeling, photorealistic rendering and presentations are used to create a cohesive design.
Parking is available for attendees in lot R located to the south of the Noel Fine Arts Center. This lot is metered and requires payment of $1 per hour. This can be done through the Passport parking app.
