Skyward recognized with the UW Regents Business Partnership Award

Celebrating decades of partnerships and service with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Skyward was presented with a UW Regents Business Partnership Award today.

Leadership from Skyward, UW-Stevens Point and the Universities of Wisconsin, as well as Skyward employees who are UW-Stevens Point alumni, were among attendees.

“The Board of Regents is proud of the partnership between UW-Stevens Point and Skyward,” said Regent Edmund Manydeeds III. “From scholarships to internships to employment after graduation, Skyward is a great supporter of UWSP.”

An educational software developer based in Stevens Point, Skyward creates administrative software solutions for more than 2,500 school districts worldwide. The company has long supported UW-Stevens Point through hundreds of student internships and employment opportunities as well as scholarships and student support programs.

In 2021, the company opened the Skyward Internship Center on the UWSP campus to offer guidance and mentorship for 40-50 student interns each year in programming, customer service and support, marketing, accounting and other areas. The center allows students to reduce their commute, gain experience in a Skyward office environment and be close to their classes in a collaborative setting.

The university dedicated Skyward Fieldhouse, the multi-activity center and indoor track space in Marshfield Clinic Champions Hall, in 2022 to recognize the company’s generosity in providing the Skyward Scholarship Program. Skyward founder Jim King, a 1968 alum of UWSP, and his wife, Jean, created the fund to provide four-year tuition scholarships to incoming students studying programming careers. The program also enhances curricular activities for UWSP’s Department of Computing and New Media Technologies.

UW-Stevens Point alumni make up more than 40 percent of Skyward’s workforce, many of whom were initially student interns and built a strong professional foundation while earning their degree.

“We are extremely grateful to Skyward for its commitment to investing in our students through its robust internship program and generous scholarship endowment,” said Chancellor Thomas Gibson. “Skyward has proved to be a dedicated educational partner as well as an outstanding example of how people and technology can work together to make a global impact.”

“Our successful partnership with UW-Stevens Point is visible every day at Skyward, where talented alumni constantly bring new energy, ideas, and innovation,” said Scott Glinski, CEO of Skyward. “We’re honored to continue growing together to create opportunities for students, strengthen our community, and help shape the future of educational technology.”

The UW Regents Business Partnership Award recognizes the reciprocal relationship between a university and a business. These alliances create innovative collaboration and impact on curricular, program or service efforts that reflect the changing nature of education and the needs of our workforce and communities.

"UW students and campus communities receive extraordinary benefit from working alongside our business partners, and Skyward is a shining example," said Jay Rothman, president of the Universities of Wisconsin. "Skyward's investment in students at UW-Stevens Point provides extraordinary opportunities for which we are grateful."
