STEVENS POINT, WI — On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the Stevens Point
Area YMCA hosted its Annual Board Meeting at the YMCA facility, bringing
together staff, board members, donors, and community stakeholders to
celebrate a year of progress and look ahead to a bright future.
Attendees heard powerful YMCA impact stories, learned about the
organization’s achievements over the past year, and were given a preview of
strategic initiatives for the year ahead—including the exciting addition of the
Waushara Community YMCA and renovation plans for the Stevens Point Area
YMCA facility.
The evening also honored outstanding individuals for their commitment to
the YMCA mission:
- The Gerald M. O’Brien Leadership Award was presented to Erik Carlson, recognizing his exceptional leadership and service.
- The Copps Family Philanthropic Award was awarded to Marg Coker-Nelson for her enduring philanthropic impact.
- The George May Mission Award was awarded to the late George May, accepted by his wife, Phyllis May, honoring his embodiment of the YMCA mission throughout his life.
