Two very different people having to share an apartment leads to chaos and humor in Neil Simon’s comedy, “The Odd Couple (Female Version),” staged at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Marshfield Nov. 6-9.
The Campus Community Players will present the show Thursday, Nov. 6, through Saturday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. in the Helen Connor Laird Theatre on the UWSP at Marshfield campus. Tickets are $20 and are available for purchase online at tickets.UWSP.edu or at the box office one hour prior to each show.
Set in 1980s New York, “The Odd Couple” is a tale of two very different women - Olive Madison and Florence Unger, played by Roxie Wetterau and Morgan Kieffer respectively, and their four friends Renee (Tracy Olson), Sylvie (Alanna Feddick-Goodwin), Mickey (Lisa Frey) and Vera (Rachel Fuehrer) who meet for a weekly game of Trivial Pursuit.
Through a series of events, Olive and Florence temporarily end up sharing an apartment where their disparate personalities create moments of both conflict and hilarity. Along the way they meet two Spanish brothers who live in the same apartment building - Manolo (Joe Anderson) and Jesus Costazuela (Jason Bravener), adding to the chaos.
The director is Donna Thompson, a Marshfield native who has directed multiple productions over the years predominantly through the UWSP Continuing Education program, most recently “Godspell” this past February and “Fiddler on the Roof, Jr” this August.
The production is funded by the Laird Endowment Fund for the Arts. It is intended for audiences of adults and older children.
