Adapted from the nine-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, “Fiddler on the Roof Jr.” brings timeless themes of family, faith, and tradition to life. Created by Broadway legends Jerome Robbins, Harold Prince, Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joseph Stein, the show features beloved songs including “Tradition,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Matchmaker,” and more.
Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to marry off his daughters and instill in them a sense of tradition in the face of growing anti-Semitism in Czarist Russia. A powerful and heartwarming tale for all ages, Fiddler on the Roof JR. reminds us that even as the world changes, some values remain eternal.
Under the direction of Donna Thompson, this is UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield’s 19th annual youth summer theatre production. The cast consists of over fifty talented Central Wisconsin youth ages 11-18.
